Talk instead of type in every app you use.

Hold one key, say what you mean, let go — the words are pasted where your cursor is. Runs on your Mac, even offline, or with your own Groq or OpenAI key. Free and open source.

On your phone? Vocet runs on a Mac.

Wherever you’d type

Reply without breaking flow

Hold the key in the message box, talk, let go. The text is pasted, ready to send.

Choose where your speech is turned into text

On this Mac

A speech model runs on your Mac. Download it once; after that dictation works offline and audio never leaves your computer.

  • English: fast, a one-time 477 MB download (Parakeet)
  • Other languages: a multilingual model (Qwen3-ASR)
  • No API key needed
  • Needs disk space and an Apple Silicon Mac

Your own cloud key

Paste a Groq or OpenAI API key. Audio goes straight from your Mac to that provider — never through a server of ours.

  • Key stored in your macOS Keychain
  • The provider may charge for usage on your account
  • Needs internet

You can switch between the two any time in Settings.

How is this different from the Mac’s built-in dictation? You choose the speech model — one on your Mac, or your own Groq or OpenAI key — you dictate by holding a single key, and every line of the code is open to check.

Setup ends with a test dictation

  1. 1Allow two permissionsMicrophone, and Accessibility to paste at your cursor — it doesn’t read your screen.
  2. 2Choose how speech becomes textPaste a Groq or OpenAI key, or use the model on your Mac (download it once in Settings).
  3. 3Try your keyRight Option (⌥) by default, or record a different one. Hold it, say a sentence, and let go.

Where your data goes

Usage and error events are on by default

Anonymous usage events go to PostHog and error reports to Sentry, so we can see where setup and dictation break. They carry a random install ID, not your name or account. Turn them off any time in Settings → Privacy; one switch covers both.
